Abstract

Comparative antioxidant studies were carried out for the ethyl acetate, chloroform and aqueous extract of flowers of Cassia auriculata, Rosa indica, Mimusops elengi, seeds of Terminalia chebula and the grass of Vetteveria zizanoides using DPPH assay. Ethyl acetate and aqueous extract of Cassia auriculata and Terminalia chebula showed increased antioxidant activity in comparision to Rosa indica, Mimusops elengi and Vetteveria zizanoides extract, there by suggesting that the probable antioxidant activity could be attributed due to the preliminary phytochemicals present.
